We can – and will – seek to end homelessness for good.
Fundraising Walk
The Big Walk
Jo’s ‘big walk’ was completed on 30th May 2022. The walk on the South West Coast path (from Minehead in Somerset to Poole in Dorset – England’s longest and, reportedly, most arduous path) was partly inspired having read Raynor Winn’s book ‘The Salt Path’ which included the author’s own experience of homelessness.
walk was undertaken over 54 days in total
The majority completed in 46 continuous days of walking between mid-April and end May 2022.
consisted 630 miles, 35,000 metres
(115,000 feet) of climbs and descents, 26,000 stairs up and down, 12 ferries (+ 1 train at Starcross as the ferry wasn’t running), 436 stiles clambered, 880 gates opened and closed, 1,718,651 footsteps taken, 135,000 calories burned.
over £54,000 was raised during 2022
I also talked to many people along the path and heard stories of housing disadvantage and experiences of homelessness that amplified lessons we were learning in the research project.
‘On 1st October Jo also joined a group of housing professionals ‘The Vertical Avengers’ in a skydive to raise further funds for the Homeful EYH campaign
